How Fine Art America pay works
On Fine Art America you set a base price (FAA's, visible in your dashboard) and add your own markup. The buyer pays base price + markup, and on a normal retail sale you keep 100% of the markup. FAA does not take a percentage of your markup the way Etsy takes a transaction fee.
Two things reduce your markup: FAA's frequent sitewide promos (the discount comes out of your markup, not FAA's base price) and its opt-in ads program (50% of your markup on ad-attributed sales). They can stack on the same sale. The calculator above models both.
Wholesale & white-label (not modeled above)
Some FAA sales go through other channels: wholesale (opt-in via designerprints.com) discounts the buyer 25-90% depending on the wholesaler, and white-label partner sales pay 50% of your markup. These are separate sale channels, not retail, so the retail payout shown above does not apply to them. Most artists sell retail; this calculator models the retail case.

How much do Fine Art America artists make?
On Fine Art America you set your own markup on top of FAA's base price, and you keep 100% of that markup on a normal retail sale. So your earnings equal your markup, unless a sitewide sale or the ads program reduces it. Enter your base price and markup above to see your exact payout.
Does Fine Art America take a commission on my markup?
No. Unlike Etsy, FAA does not take a percentage of your markup on a normal retail sale. FAA earns from its own base price (which covers the print and its cut); the markup you add is yours. The exceptions are FAA's frequent sitewide promos and its opt-in ads program, both of which come out of your markup.
How does Fine Art America pricing work?
The buyer pays FAA's base price plus your markup. The base price varies by product and size and is set by FAA (you see it in your artist dashboard). Your markup is a flat dollar amount you choose per product and size. Buyer price = base price + markup; your payout = markup.
Do Fine Art America sitewide sales come out of my markup?
Yes. When FAA runs a sitewide discount (for example 25% or 30% off everything), that discount is taken out of your markup, not FAA's base price, so your payout on that sale is lower than your set markup. FAA does not publish this behavior; it is confirmed from real seller payout history. Toggle "Sitewide promo active" above to model it.
What is the Fine Art America ads program and how much does it take?
FAA runs an opt-in Google/site ads program. On sales it attributes to an ad, it takes 50% of your markup. It is independent of a sitewide promo and can stack with one, so an ad-attributed sale during a promo reduces your markup twice. Toggle "Sale came from FAA's ads program" above to see the effect.
